PRINTS

What is Printmaking?

Printmaking is the process of creating artworks by transferring ink from a matrix onto paper or another chosen surface. This process typically involves the use of a printing press, but many modern printmakers make use of hand-printing methods as well. There are many different types of printmaking, including relief, intaglio, lithography, and screen printing, each with its unique set of techniques and challenges.

At Ash Leaf Printmaking, we specialise in relief printing, specifically lino and wood reduction printing. Our prints are created by carving a design into a block of linoleum or wood, inking the block, and then transferring the inked image onto paper. Each block can be used to create multiple prints, with each one being slightly different due to variations in ink, pressure, and other factors.

All of our lino/wood reduction prints have been finished with a hand embossing, adding an extra level of texture and dimension. We use a range of 3-6 colors, depending on the design chosen, to create vibrant and eye-catching prints. We also offer single-color letterpress prints, printed on various papers, for a more classic and understated look.

All of our prints are original, limited edition, signed, and dated by the printmaker, Ashley Hutchinson. This ensures that each print is a unique work of art that will never be reproduced in exactly the same way. We take great pride in creating high-quality, handmade prints that are both beautiful and affordable.

So whether you're looking for a one-of-a-kind piece of art to hang on your wall or a special gift for a loved one, Ash Leaf Printmaking has something for everyone. With our dedication to quality and craftsmanship, you can be sure that you're getting a truly special and unique piece of art that will be treasured for years to come.
